01

A file that matches your purpose

Tourism, business meetings, paid employment, study and family visits may use different application categories. Define your travel purpose and length of stay first. Do not assume a visitor visa authorises employment.

02

Personalise your checklist

A passport, photograph, evidence of purpose, finances, accommodation and insurance may be relevant. Work applications may involve employer evidence; study may require admission documents. These examples are not a mandatory or exhaustive checklist: use the official category-specific list.

03

After the decision

Check the name, permitted entries, validity and duration of stay on your visa. Visa, work and residence rights are not interchangeable. For a longer stay, confirm local registration, permits and employment-start conditions with the competent authority.
